I was sitting in the lobby on a wooden bench waiting to visit my friend. This man comes in in his electric wheelchair and loses control of it. He hits me, pushes the bench and pins my legs against the bench beside me. I was screaming because my legs were being crushed. The security guard just watched, did not even ask me if I was okay, offer ice, or anything. There were other visitors around too, and they didn't say or do anything. Everyone just stared. My legs are so swollen and cut up.
Best service and place for rehab.
Everyone is so dedicated to their job.
Can't thank them enoug.
Dr Reebye, Dr Hallem, Dr Rainer, Debbie, Tracy, Dina, Mike, Kathleen Big thank you
Have called them probably 30 times this week because they left a message for me, and nobody answers. I need serious help with my concussion, and a concussion clinic doesn't even answer the phone.
Almost 28 years an out patent at GFS . I like the name change from Hospital to rehab center . By some of the reviews a hospital they do every thing for you even wipe your bum . A rehab center will teach you how to do it yourself . Sure nice knowing I have GFS behind me as I get older .
Lisa Luft, RSLP (C), Lisa Vardi RD, CNSC are a few of the kind ladies who helped my sister deal with ALS. They are wonderful people to deal with
Thank you for all your good work .
Waste of time. Told me my issues were psychological... turns out and it has been confirmed that it was not. A little more effort may have helped.
When you get THE WORST News possible receiving it from the ALS Team at GF Strong in Vancouver, via neurologist Dr. Kula & nurse Marife, was about as compassionate and tactful as it could ever have been.
NOW TO FIND A CURE !
AND FAST !!!
All the doctors are awesome. They just don't treat the patient as a disabled person but a normal one. i won't forget my doctor's especially Dr. Stacey Reebye and the whole team. I want to say kuddos. Thank you for all the effort and love that you gave me.
This is my fifth day at G.F.Strong.I have Guillaime Barre Syndrome. An auto-immunne disease. All I can say is the physio staff>Gina,Clemintine,Shelly are great.Likewise for Dr.Foley.Can'r forget nurses Rose,Nilda.OT specialist Katie>Awesome. And Erin>Social worker. This place is like Mayo Clinic. All staff knowledgeable, courteous.Have minimum two months more to go,but I know my stay will be favourable. One gets better only if one has the fight, spirit, desire.I am in the right place.
It is a great place for rehab pt, ot and nurses are great. Expect to be bored and don't depend on the food. Was able to walk out
Blonde seemed rude when I asked direction on 2nd floor behind the service desk
One of the best facilities in BC. Thank you to all those involved in my fathers recovery. Nurses, doctors, OT, PT, everyone!
Just got back from visiting stepson, who is paralyzed and in a wheelchair. My wife did all the visiting in the building as due to covid, 1 visitor in the building only. Acceptable. By all her accounts, support staff on 2nd floor are excellent, Julia, Chris are some of the names she mentioned. And the stepson is probably one of the worst patients they will have, rude, swears alot, etc.
Brings me to the facility itself, only once a week sessions with social worker and psychologist. Makes no sense. Does not seem to be much investment into the mental aspect of recovery. How are the patients supposed to deal with being in a wheelchair the rest of their lives? My wife had a big fight with the stepson, was in tears, a person parked next to me in the parking lot also was in a fight with her son, and the day before, saw a husband in wheel chair make his wife cry. Yes, very difficult to adjust to new lifestyle, but the facility wants family to support, but family keeps getting abused by the patients. There needs to be more attention put to the mental recovery aspect. Also stepson moods seem to be really like bipolar, but when we try to talk to someone about it, there seems to be no where to turn. "He's an adult, so.....' Professionals dont seem to be able to recognize the mental needs or mental illness of some of their patients.
Reception staff are rude as hell. Had me wondering around like an idiot, made me felt like I was an idiot.
One of the worst places in the world due to some of the rudest staff. If you would like to get better, this will probably not be the place to do it. The nurses and most physiotherapist are completely unprofessional and do not care about helping anyone. Shocked, just shocked at how awful almost every nurse on the second floor nursing is. The Province needs to look into this facility.
