I went in at 8:45 with bleeding wounds and a bruise the size of texas and it took about an hour wait in the waiting room then once I got to my room was 1 1/2 hours before the first doctor entered my room. 5 hours later I was discharged. I was assured the iv drip they gave me would have my wounds free of infection. None of that happened.

Elyria hospital is a great medical facility. Dawn , my nurse in the ICU was fantastic. The only problem was them allowing phone calls to me which upset me to the point i signed out AmA. Which definately WAS a mistake. But i could not think or function at that moment. Probably gonna stroke out anyways. But Kudos to Dawn. I should have listened.
I came to the E.R. in a lot of pain in my chest, an I was being seen by a Dr. William Rodgers. The pain was so bad that I was crying, an bent over couldn't hardly walk, an being pushed in a wheelchair. Now my first complaint is I sat there over 2 hours to even receive pain meds. That I had to request again. Then when all was said an done, an that found out it was my sarcoiedois flareing up, (an yes that's one of the worse pains anyone could go through) Dr. Rodgers comes in my room an starts getting smart with me " saying things like I can't cure you, an you need to go see your doctor an Then he said I can only give you what I think an that's all" first off I didn't come to the ER for NO ONES advice I came for pain relief, like I was told by my physician that sees me for sarcoid. Unfortunately I can't always get in when I want to with my doctor, so I'm told to go to the E.R. so I was trying to explain that to him, an he just walks off not wanting to hear what I had to say. How rude. Never once asked me if my pain was under control. Nor how I felt... Seeing that my blood pressure was sky high the whole time I was there from the pain. Now in closing.. Not everyone who comes to the hospital is looking for drugs, and I'm far from a drug addict. I was in bad pain, an the medicine I take at home does nothing for the serious pain it can get to. So being that the ER is for getting people comfortable, an lessoning there pain, why give me attitude, an disrespect. Shame on how I was treated. Wonder why that hospital has low ratings.. I would say I would NEVER come back there ever again.. But I suffer from a horrible disease and very painful so I have to go where its close. But better believe HE WILL NEVER ASSIT ME AGAIN!!!!!! GET IT TOGETHER UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL!!!
after seeing all the one stars, i can only say, wish i would of left a one star after the first time i went there and they did less than I went to gates and was ready to pass out, so i went over to university emergency. They could not figure out anything. I told them i felt like this before and was having a thyroid fire, (hyperthyroidism attack). Dr. agreed, (really had no idea), i asked for some meds or a shot so i could get home. oh, this is a hospital, we cannot give med's... yes, it was that stupid. i could of dyed driving home, i was delusional for the attack but so sick and tired of the stupid. i thought it was just a freak one time incident. I would of seen all these one stars and not gone there today. I just took my wife in there, she could not breath, never got oxygen, oxygen guy did come in and intake said she is taking a new person she just called back for, everyone ran out to the waiting room, OMG raspy breathing, my wife could not get her breath at all actually passed out a couple times from lack of oxygen. That is why i rushed her to emergency. another big point people need to understand. if you do not use a doctor from university hospital? they can see no information on you at all. NOTHING.
This is the wrost place ever to go to ! Been here for 5 hours and still cant get out. Doc came in a hour ago and said I was good to go. But wait no nurse came in to take care of my papers to LEAVE! Do not I repeat Do not come to this place!
Dr. Branch in ER should not treat humans or even animals. He does not care about patients, he is a liar and has no compassion. Will never go to that ER again.
Nothing is labeled so I had no idea where I was supposed to be and I almost missed my appointment. I came back a few weeks later for a colonoscopy which went well, but after that I've heard literally nothing. They gave me a packet that had pictures they took of areas in my colon that looked unusual, but no description of what those could be. They said they would call me back the next day to check on me, it's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard a word. The doctor did a biopsy of my colon and sent it to the lab, saying they would send me the results in a few days. I haven't heard a word. They ordered more blood work out of nowhere and still haven't told me what they think might be wrong with me. My condition is getting really bad and I'm really scared, but they won't tell me a god damn thing! Also, on all of my paperwork I did get to see they were using an address I haven't lived at in 5 years, even though I've corrected it multiple times. Everyone that works there is very kind and professional, it just seems like they don't know how to do communicate with patients.
The E R staff was training several people in nursing n assistance. Everyone was asked to be admitted to the hospital. Every time a new Dr. Graduates from medical school that Dr wants to make a name for themself. The patient may not need to stay but they force it anyway. The Russian girl was very rude, disrespectful n pushy. She continued to raise her voice at me when I asked about contacting my Drs. She said no one is telling my Dr's anything. The guy at the hospital will make all my decisions! The place was a mess. The put me in a room with an old man who told them he has pneumonia. The only thing separating us was a curtain. He coughed n hacked the whole time. W covid19 still going on that was too risky. I had chest pains n no disease. Just a nightmare. They used to be good. So sad
I would give this place a "0" if I could. Please avoid this horrible place.
My father-in-law has a chronic lung condition and is sent to this hospital whenever he has something his retirement home can't treat.
Every single time he goes in, it is like they forget his previous diagnosis. They try to re-run the same tests over and over. They start discussions with us saying "Your father has..." We answer with "We KNOW THIS. HE WAS HERE FOR THE SAME THING 5 LAST YEAR AND TWO THIS YEAR!" They just don't get it and keep him there for a week (or more) to "run tests" which usually results in us moving him to another hospital. Heck, they can't even discharge him without creating a complete fiasco.
Most of the nurses are rude and really couldn't care less and some are belligerent with family members.
We are stuck dealing with this horrible place because the retirement community has to send him there.
Avoid this place at all costs. Go to Avon if you can...
This is the worst place for care. From sitting in the emergency room for 4 hours waiting to be transported to a room while my wife bleeds to the raw meatloaf served for dinner and waiting so far for three hours due to the dr is busy and has not released my wife yet. Absolute terrible care. No more University hospital. Had enough.
My father went in for a heart cath. The nurses and staff were great. Disappointed with the waiting area outside recovery. Only one elevator working. Hospital, at least the 11 floor could use some updating. Actually the whole place is looking a little worn and could use a good cleaning.
The nurses are super nice and friendly! I don't know about the doctors, since I've been here for almost 8 hours and haven't spoke to one. Slowest hospital ever!!! Thank God I don't normally come here!
My mom was being treated in the emergency room on 12/7/2017, and she was being taken care of by nurse Lesli. She went out out her way to make her feel comfortable, and attend to her needs. She was kind and caring. I appreciated all her help and kindness. She truly loved her job and helping others.
I was there for a surgery and everyone was so kind and sweet. The nurses were responsive and easy to talk to, none of my concerns were invalidated everyone was wonderful. I could not have asked for a better experience thank you UH team!
No insurance, I came on two separate occasions in a weeks span. The nurses and other workers are all nice and hospitable. They took care of me and admitted me both times. I had bad panic attacks from alcohol withdrawal. They gave me meds and vitamins which brought me back to full strength. I can sleep again and the relief is overwhelming. It was a bit humiliating but I'm glad I went besides having all this debt to take care of. Also, someone died in the room next to me and my door was left open. I overheard the entire thing. Gave me chills all night.
Do not have your babies here. Do not take your child here when they are dying. They will not listen to you, they will treat you with major disrespect. This is not a safe place to go for treatment. My son was driven to the Cleveland clinic after 3 days in a row of them ignoring me. At 3 weeks old he almost starved to death. This place is a nightmare.
Unless you have a "general" problem, please stay away from Elyria Medical Center and all their "general" cardiologists and other doctors, because it's costing lives. Unless you have a death wish, drive to a hospital where doctors didn't all graduate at the bottom of their class. With a grade "C," remember you can STILL be a doctor. C's get degrees.
My sister now lies in a bed at UH-Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio in CRITICAL condition, which means they can not do the procedure needed to open her valve enough to give her oxygen (she was diagnosed with pneumonia and never had it). Her "general" cardiologist said he was having her transferred to Cleveland Clinic; then left for a vacation. She wasn't transferred, because he never put that transfer in, and I talked to the top person at Cleveland Clinic. Though she asked to be transferred, and should have been with no questions asked, she never was transferred. Her condition worsened after a stroke and medication she told them she got very sick on (10 blood transfusions needed), but put on the same medicaiton this time, she wasn't even given blood though she was down two units.
Stay away from Elyria Medical Center. There are NO Univeristy Hospital doctors there. Stay away from Parma Hospital and Southwest GENERAL Hospital, unless you have a death wish.
I was taken there after a motorcycle accident. The care I received was rushed so quickly that they said the fracture was simple (it wasn't; CC Avon put in a plate and 6 screws), they forgot to give me anything for pain until they were getting ready to discharge me, at which point they also realized they forgot to xray my extremely swollen and painful hand. They also complained that they had 8 people in the waiting room and that they had to get them in and out. These people either don't care about the patients, are medically incompetent, or likely both.
The first time I was admitted to the hospital 75 percent of the nurses where good and 25percent where awful and shouldn't be nurses. The second time I was admitted 50 percent where good and 50 percent where awful and very cold people! Always have a caring relative there why your in the hospital!
If I could give this hospital a 0 I would. I went in at about 1am on 7/6/18 didn't leave til 8am. I was there for severe back pain but because I was forgotten I didn't get any pain relief for 4 hours of being there. Nurse GiGi didn't know how to take blood at all . I have 2 large ugly unnecessary bruises that actually hurt still today 7/8/18. That was my first and will be the last time I go to this hospital. Next time I will go out of my way to get better care elsewhere . Please avoid this place!!!!!
Lack of communication withER. Won't give information to family ftom ER. Patient ask to eat 3 times they say ok and ignore her. Take test wont tell anyone results want admit her just to keep testing without telling her why.
I grew up and lived all my life in Lorain County, (age 58) EMH / UH in Elyria has ALWAYS done a fantastic job for my medical needs, and my husband as well. I understand some have had sad circumstances and I m sorry. I just want to give the Medical Staff Accolades for doing a fine job. Without mentioning other facility names, The surrounding area medical centers will not get Recommendations from me.
The worst place ever!!!! I told my family if im have a heart attack, or any other medical condition. Drive pass this horrible place and take me to cleveland clinic in avon! If i die on the way dont feel bad you tried!
I'm amazed at how many bad reviews this place has. Anytime I have been there, everything was treated quickly. The nurses were kind, and there is a old er doctor there that was very kind and understanding with my severe special needs child when his gtube came out. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because my brother was just in tonight and I pretty much knew it was appendicitis, but they put him on fast track, so he didn't get a bed and had to sit in a uncomfortable recliner for 4 hours until it was officially confirmed. And as anyone who has had appendicitis before will tell you, its extremely painful.
Way under staffed! Was admitted and basic standard of care procedures were not followed. Called them on many mistakes and all they could say was sorry. Health depart should do an investigation. Been here twice when I had no other choice and had a horrible experience both times. STAY AWAY go to Avon Cleveland clinic
Inept. Incompetent. Dangerous. This hospital is the last place to go if you need help.
Mostly good nurses but one was horrible to the point of being dangerous. When we complained we got lip service. Many, many things were bad ranging from mixed up meds to call buttons ignored to constant noise and nurses who literally yell to each other while patients try to rest.
Do not go here if you have a choice. Hospital from hell.
Took my daughter here for some testing as reccomended by her doctor. We went for an ultrasound and the woman at the window trying to check us in was very rude and was not considerate of my young daughter. I was trying to make my daughter comfortable after a small incident and I had to ask the lady working for help at least 3 times and she never seemed to be in a hurry or care that my daughter was uncomfortable (it wasn t an emergency but I still shouldn t have to ask her for help with the same thing that many times). After waiting for about 10 min and her still not helping us or caring what was going on (she went to another room to talk about another patient with other workers. Yes, I could hear everything she was saying about the other patient, including the name. I could also hear a few small jokes by this lady to other workers) I decided to leave. It was very unprofessional by her all around. We will never be back to any UH just because of how we were treated at this one. One of the things I asked for help with a getting a pediatric gown or something for my daughter to wear and I was told they don t have a pediatric gown in the whole hospital. For some reason I don t believe that.
Don't go there my mother was there didn't see dr for over 2hrs. spent 5hrs in er . was sent to regular room got no real treatment was lifeflighted to another hos[tal next day where she died. they are grossly understaffed.
I was in a bad car wreck and I was put in the hall they had no rooms open I had to pee so they bought me a clapsable curtain and a piss bucket while sitting in the hall they did a ct scan and I declined anymore service from them
Didn't really understand what a "1" star rating would be. Now I understand perfectly. Surly attendants and general ineptness. This group of cretins kept my husband awake for nearly 36 hours and then didn't understand why he was having a panic attack. They seem to have zero experience with veterans with PTSD...since they didn't seem very interested in my telling them that he needed sleep or he could have a flashback episode. As of this moment, I am stuck in his room to keep him safe and I haven't had much sleep myself. When I asked for a cot...I was curtly told that "we don't have any" and "there's a couch at the end of the hall". Despite telling everyone who would listen in the ER that he needed a bi-pap machine for sleep, he was never provided with one. When I arrived today and found out they wanted to keep him another night, I mentioned the bi-pap again and was told "most people bring their own". So I headed home and got the machine ...imagine bringing your own equipment to a hospital! My husband has had lots of procedures and has spent a lot of time in hospitals. I can honestly say this is the absolute worst experience we have had in 20 years. If you care for your loved ones. .take them elsewhere. Of course there are exceptions to the overall ineptitude of the staff here...several nurses and other attendants actually seemed to care. However it seems many are less than engaged.
WARNING YOU CANNOT GET REAL MEDICAL HELP HERE UNLESS YOUR LITERALLY FLAT LINING!!!! $502.00 just to walk into the emergency room if you have no insurance. The staff at this hospital are rude and have no compassion for patients that come to them seeking help. Shameful! Crazy to me that they are allowed to continue being a glorified butcher shop. Pfffft!
I had my first emergency with my four year old daughter. She shoved a jelly bean in her nose and I didn't want to lodge it up further by trying to grab it, so I took her to the ER. The person who checked us in was fairly professional and nice. He was super efficient. We got back to a room and there were almost no other patients. So it was pretty quiet, you could hear the chatter of the nurses and doctors. We sat for about 45 minutes, my poor kid is in pain, before a doctor comes in and gets the jelly bean out. Then, he promptly turns around and goes to the work station, chops it up with the other staff, and I hear them ridiculing me for taking her in for a jelly bean in her nose. I was humiliated and, to me and my child, felt this was an emergency. Sure, I could've just as easily made her blow her nose five times at home, but I didn't want to make it worse and risk it slipping all the way into her sinuses. The staff was relatively nice and engaged with my daughter, but that was terribly humiliating to be considered a joke for caring about my daughter.
I was taken to EMH by ambulance earlier this month. Long story short, I was discharged much sooner than I should have been. This caused me to go to St. John s, less than a week later. EMH is the worst and if I could sue for incorrect early discharge, I would.
I came here with my Step dad because he can barely walk, in immense pain . The registration & initial vital checks & such were quick. We got here at 8:15pm registration/check in took about 15mins . We're now waiting "for an open room" Great .
It's now 10pm. Only a lot of people coming in & checking in & being checked out same as us then sitting in the waiting area . They don't seem to care about anyone's welfare in the ER area . Just quick in & out check ups for people & nothing more than that.
So if your life is on the line or you need help Urgently . DO NOT COME HERE . You'll probably literally die waiting on help..
The er doctor was completely unprofessional they are under staffed you are better off going to a third world countries hospital and that completely sad. I would give a half star if that was possible
I would not recommend going to this facility or using any office affiliated with them. Went to see Dr. Berkowitz at Center for Orthopedics for low back pain. An X-Ray was ordered. I have an HSA and the X-Ray cost me $512!!!! That was on top of the visit to Dr. Berkowitz which was basically 8 minutes of him telling me to read a book and get physical therapy. By comparison, I've recently seen a chiropractor, and my X-Ray was $40. Do not go to these offices. You will be paying the bill for all of the folks who don't pay their bill. They will take advantage of you.
I caught the nurses and pramedics that brought my mom in the hospital taking about a patient in a certain room. My mom was in that room. I confronted them, of course they denied it. We took names an we sill be filing a formal complaint. RN Jeff was one of them.
This is by far the worst hospital ever.. I have sickle cell you give me one shot of pain medicine then say i cant give you no more.. But Im in pain and cant wait to get admitted
April 4, came in with lower back pain and I couldn t pee, nobody has come to see me and I ve been waiting for 3hrs Nurses are horrible and totally unprofessional. I will never come to this ER again.
Don't ever go here never take a loved one here unless u want them to not care and do nothing this place will kill sumone one day cuz they don't care about the people coming in and out
Place is a god damn joke, end of story. I was put into a room and FORGOT about for 2 hrs, when they finally "came" to see me it was only to move me to another room where I would wait for an hr before I said eff it and left. ANYWHERE else is better!
University Hospitals are horrible. I have never seen a doctor or had a service here that wasn't billed incorrectly. EVERY TIME! Plus, for any service they demand that you pay up front based on what they think your insurance will pay and they are ALWAYS wrong, then you have to jump through a thousand hoops just to get your money back. On once instance I got an infection post surgery and my surgeon told me to go in through the emergency room to be admitted. While I laid there screaming in pain, they were standing there demanding payment of the "emergency room" co pay, even though my insurance doesn't require that when you are admitted. They show no concern for their patients at all. Only money driven.
When my mom was in the Micu she had good care. Once they moved her to a regular room it went down hill really fast. I would at all cost avoid going here and try going to St John West shore in Westlake. It is a way better hospital and has more caring staff.
worst hospital ever, employees are god awful and nobody here knows how to do their job right. You work in a hospital saving lives yet their employees seem to know nothing. Id recommend going literally anywhere else
this is a very good hospital i caught mrsa while a patient they called me 2 days after i got discharged from billing saying if i did not make arrangements to pay the bill they was going to refuse treatment to treat my mrca [o have medicare insurance
I am giving one star, because I can't give it a zero. I was taken to this ED in an ambulance and was treated poorly and miss diagnosed. I went there for sever abdominal pain. I was placed in a wheelechair. I waited to be taken to a bed crying. The doctor did only a sonogram, no cat scan, and diagnosed me with overian cyst, on the side were I don't have an overy. They discharged me and I had to plead for a wheelchair. Went to Cleveland Clinic Avon and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Do not go to Elyria Memorial Hospital. It is terrible.
I was here recently with a partially collapsed lung. The nursing staff and everything was mostly great, but Dr. Ram is an embarrassment to his profession. He doesn't know how to talk to patients, he actually told me his job overwhelms him sometimes and he admitted to not being able to balance his work load. He also repeatedly coughed into his hand while in patient rooms and rubbed his nose with his bare hands as well. I have no idea how the man is still a medical doctor. It took him over 4 hours to discharge me which is a risk for infection in a hospital and detrimental to one's stay. I even had to get one of the hospital managers to call him on his personal cell phone and he still ignored my request. I will never be returning to this hospital and honestly as long as Dr. Ram is employed there, I pity any patient he's in charge of.
Not worth the time. They take to long they will say one time then it will be a whole different time. Their Q Track is to be the fastest but it's the slowest. Truth be told I don't know how this hospital is even still open
My father died, but they brought him back to life. He's doing pretty darn well now. Apparently they do this stuff all this time. This place is awesome.
Staff is complacent and cold. Poor "care" is all you will get at best here. This facility is only open to PROFIT from the public's suffering. If your looking for HELP...AVOID THIS PLACE
Er workers rude and asking me questions that have nothing to do with what I was there for and as a visitor I wasn't allowed to have privacy with my wife when everyone else's room had closed curtains made my wife feel uncomfortable cause everyone walking past is looking right in
Went to ER with acute sciatica. Worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. ER nurse told me " do you here those beeps? Those are people on ventilators, you'll be fine. Actually they don't put covid patients on ventilators in the ER... He's lucky I was in so much pain I could barely see. I would have liked to break his jaw and see how he felt... Got a bill for 1200 dollars for 3 freaking Tylenol 3's. Wait for me to pay that one. Would die before I went back there. UH sucks a large one.
We went to emergency room, my daughter needed stitches got there at 7:15 did not get seen until 10:45 .then they made us wait another hour then we finally went in the back and we didn't get out of there until 1:30 am. The ER nurse was sitting there with her feet up eating grapes while my daughter bleed . Go to Amherst it would be better and faster
My experience was the most disappointing thing I had ever been through with a physician or nurse or triage nurse that I have ever had. I went in with shortness of breath, dizziness and weakness and chest pain. The only thing that they put in my chart notes was chest pain. Which is a big deal, however I had a lot of other things going on as well. Dr. Cullison was the physician In The emergency dept that day. My spouse and child were with me when he asked why I was there and I told him of the shortness of breath etc. and the chest pain. He ordered blood work to make sure the enzyme for a heart problem didn't show up in my blood. However when I called there to complain about it to the emergency room nurse manager Ms.bonnet she assured me that she would look into it. I was happy with her however when I talked to physicians link MsWhitsell for the billing for the physicians and how he didn't acknowledge all my complaints that sent me there in the first place. All she could say was how the doctors notes only had the chest pain complaint in it. Which is a crock because thats not what sent me there. I had been having chest pain for a week and was having tests done by my pcp. My primary care doctor did an ekg and it was abnormal and he was already doing tests which the ER doc was informed of, what sent me there was the shortness of breath and light headedness and weakness plus I was vomiting at home. This was the main reason for going. The triage nurse and er nurse and doctor were all informed of this, as I explained to them the new symptoms besides chest pain and that was the reason I was there. None of them wrote the other symptoms besides chest pain in their notes. I feel that I was neglected and like they didn't hear me as a patient , and since I had a normal ekg there. They wrote off the real reason I was there and didn't listen to me I myself have been in the medical field and not listening to a patient can cause an error. I went to my primary care physician the next day and he sent me to a cardiologist because, it could of been serious with my breathing in which the er doctor ignored. What upsets the most is the quality assurance doctor Mr Sighn that the ER doctor did his due dilegence with me for the chest pain. However once again the doctor didn't note my file with what I actually told him and did a couple tests and sent me home. I feel they need to hire ER doctors that don't neglect there files and document what is actually going on with a patient and not just push you through the ER. I went to the cardiologist that Friday after and was put on beta blockers for hyper tension as well. No, his xray and labs didn't show that but if he listened and put all the symptom together he would of known. I wouldn't recommend EMH if someone was dying, I would take a chance and go gen miles further and gave a better chance of learning what is wrong with ER doctors that do care and listen.
I am giving a shout out to Nurse Andy on the 11th floor. My old guy is just raving about that guy! He went out of the way to make the old guy comfortable! I also want to thank all the staff that helped with the very misunderstood smart phone!
My 38 year old son went to uh on June 16, 2017 with severe chest pain. Er dr took x-rays and bloodwork. He was then told to go to his own doctor and be treated. When he begged for help, he was told to get a ride and wait in lobby. Uh could not help him. Fortunately another person working er saw his distress. After a second round of tests, it was determined his lungs were full of blood clots. He was in icu for ten days. Nurses were great, but uh should fire the er doctor that mistreated my son. He is a definite liability to patients and any hospital he practices at.
Person checking me in made my arm go numb and told me the arm cuff is supposed to make your arm numb. Waited over an hour to get to a bed when all the doctors and nurses were sitting around talking. Nurse laughed when I had said I fainted. Very rude staff.
Went after an MVC to the Emergency Room. There was no formal intake process and they didn't even process me under my legal name. After waiting for over an hour to get in we were taken back to an ER room where we sat for over 2 hours and received about 2 check-ins during that time. Finally got the okay to leave after receiving nothing more than a fetal heartbeat monitor (not even offered a glass of water while we waited or shown the restrooms). Get your act together UH, you're a hot mess right now. This hospital used to be great, but now I'll gladly drive a farther distance in an emergency if this is the type of treatment your patients expect to receive. Absolutely terrible.
They took care of me perfectly the nurses were always watching me to see if it was ok I recommend it very good and the doctors know what they do they work very well thank you very much
If i could give negative stars - i would. I have hated this hospital for many years. I once stated that i would rather die on the sidewalk in front of this hospital than to go inside and be treated. I'm back to that and I'll tell you why. On my 4th trip to the ER in three months, a male nurse who came to greet me told me three times that i had a mild sports hernia and that he was convinced i just needed physical therapy to get better. I find this fascinating because, as it turns out from an MRI, that i have avascular necrosis, which means the round ball on the end of my femur is collapsing from lack of blood flow and i will need a hip replacement. Can you imagine the paid i would have been in if i had went to physical therapy? I would have shot through the roof! If you ever need to seek medical care, go somewhere else. Avon or Amherst would be my suggestion.
This is one of the worse hospital to deliver at I ve ever been to. Nurses and doctors alike are completely unprofessional and do not take time out to care for patients or children. They are extremely rude and careless.
I am going to be so honest to all you. This hospital is a joke. There is no way in hell you go to the ER with a pain and you leave with the same pain you came in with. This is ridiculous. Oh they want to asume hey you have this and send you with a prescription of junk but charging you insurance like they took care of your needs. This was BS. I rather travel to avon they take better care of you there i should have trusted my instincts.
If I could of given negative stars this review would be accurate. Terrible. Save 3 hours of your time and head to another hospital. Worst service ever. The emergency room is a joke.Tracy RN. Intake nurse on 9-20-2019 RUDE. Not a good look for the hospital.
I wish I could give it a zero ABSOLUTELY terrible the doctor was arrogant I was begging and pleading for him to listen to me and know that I'm in ALOT of pain. I left the hospital two hours ago and the medication he prescribed have none NOTHING I even asked him not to prescribe me a certain medication and he did it anyway. They absolutely have no compassion for anyone that comes through that door. I hate this hospital and I hope that it gets shut down for their poor working staff.
Hospitals like the Elyria Medical Center are why people do not seek medical care when needed. My son was brought there on 11/6/2015. I was asking, begging for a mental health assessment. Instead, I was insulted, degraded, and his care was basically ignored. The lack of caring by the professionals there is only blurred by the lack of security, lack of following protocol, and the shared bathroom experience of patients from observation, walking in their socks OUT of observation to use the rest room. The same rest room that has broken shelves, reeks, and has a wet floor from the sink. This would be the same rest room used by emergency room patients, observation patients, guests, and anyone else needing it. Even a patient who was homicidal, complained about the bath room. When he was walking around, the unsecured Observation Room. And eventually made a run for it, by punking the ONE nurse and fleeing through the door that was supposed to remain closed and locked. It had been opened by the nurse on duty and remained open for hours. I can not help but wonder how safe the residents of Elyria, Ohio will sleep again, if they found out, someone who is homicidal took off from the hospital and ran around their neighborhood for an unknown period of time, in the dark. A one holer, dirty and dank. Yes, indeed, 21 st Century medical care, has not arrived in Elyria, Ohio yet. Anyone mentions taking you or someone there....divert route.

The ER doctors aren't very interested in the patient getting the proper care for their illness. Because my symptoms did not present themselves as the usual symptoms do, I was made to feel like I was wasting their time. The CT scans showed that there were gallstones. I went to the hospital two different times and was told I could go home, with an acute gall bladder attack! Both my doctor and surgeon took care of my having surgery. I requested a different hospital where I was treated with respect and concern.
Absolute joke of a place. Shouldn't be in business with how they treat their patients. Doctors don't even know what they're doing. Went in there for staph infection, they treated me with intravenous antibiotics for three days then told me to leave even though I was still was not healthy. Tried to explain to the doctor that there was still something wrong multiple times and he ignored my complaints and told me to do physical therapy because I didn't have full range of motion in my leg. Turns out they completely missed the fact that I have a major disease that needed to be treated with surgery right away. Save yourself the hastle, go somewhere else where the doctors actually have intelligence.
I arrived with my daughter who is deaf because she needed emergency care, and it was the best experience we have ever had at a hospital. The nurses and doctor listened to our concerns, they were warm and kind with treating her and were absolutely amazing with helping her feel comfortable. Thank you for all of your collaboration efforts in treating my baby precisely, and for really listening to her. You don't find that type of care a whole lot. I'm so grateful we chose your emergency room.
I love this hospital.I have used the ER a few times.Every visit has been great! Don't judge this hospital by the bad reviews! See for yourself! I was there January 2020. I I had chest pain and pneaumonia. I had the absolute best care..My nurse Patrick was very attentive he listened and took care of me in a very professional manner.
