I booked a wheelchair van for my father with East Coast. It was the cheapest option and great service from booking to pick up and drop off. They were on time, avoided highways (father was pleased) and the drivers were courteous. Special shout out to Marvin. You will be lucky if you ever get driven by him. He was exceptional, kind and funny. Made us feel very well cared for.
The ambulance drivers were great. However, the administrative staff at East Coast did not communicate well with me or each other. For example, I was told one cost for the ambulance ride and then charged another, higher price; I was faulted for not returning a call to one department at East Coast, when someone from a different department called me, and I thought we were set for my mother's transport (in other words, the two departments didn't talk to each other to ascertain that the transport of my mother had already been arranged. This is the company's problem--not mine--but I was reprimanded! How tacky and unprofessional! Granted, I don't believe the customer is always right, but for a company to scold me is outlandish!. Finally and most egregiously, I told East Coast repeatedly that my mother is incontinent, which is a major reason I paid almost $5,000.00 for her to use the company's cross-state ambulance service--as opposed to their much less expensive wheelchair-accessible van; however, the office staff failed to tell the ambulance crew that my mother's incontinent. Since the crew members are the ones actually working with my mother, this lack of communication is pretty sad. As it was, the crew called me as they were driving because they didn't know what to do. For an almost $5,000.00 ticket price, one would think that the service and staff at East Coast would be better, more on top of things, and more professional in demeanor.
We hired east coast for my father for bariatric transport for a blood transfusion. He refused to go to the hospital because of COVID and decided he would prefer comfort care before hesitantly agreeing to trying an outpatient transfusion. He was ready to fire them before they even walked in through the door (as he does with any and all healthcare workers as he gets anxious). Instead he was taken back by the two strong, professional and kind men that came to pick him up. They easily got him over to gurney and respected his dignity and made sure he didn t feel embarrassed. They arrived within 30 mins of their pickup time to take dad home and again moved him back to bed. Ambulance companies are constantly held up by other patients, traffic, and unexpected issues so 30 mins was fantastic! Thank you!
My wife had received her first covid vaccination at a local rehab center and was scheduled to receive her second dose 3 weeks after being discharged. I contacted East Coast Ambulance to schedule the second visit and was told that they were booked and couldn't make her scheduled time slot and tentatively booked her a transport two hours later. When the rehab center said that was the only time slot available, I called East Coast to cancel the booking. Instead they said to hold off and they will call me back. Within about 15 minutes, they said they were able to shuffle some things around and committed to get her to her appointment on time. I know they only had one ambulance scheduled for that Sunday. I don't know what they did or how they did it, but they went above and beyond the norm to help us out. They absolutely made my day! I would highly recommend East Coast Ambulance for all your transport needs.
Extremely unprofessional administration and a very unstructured way of doing business. There is favoritism among employees... some have neglected patients and didnt recognize when the patient's condition had deteriorated during the transport. Some don't know how to use the life saving equipment. The one manager talks about employees to other employees, doesn't answer her phone or texts because she's too busy with the affair she is having and tells everyone about it. Way too much drama, like being back in high school to work there.
No clue what the overall 2 Star rating is about. Tried East Coast for the first time today. Needed Wheelchair transportation for my 91yr old father, pickup and return for a Dr's appointment. Pick up was early! Can't beat that. Return was also early, even though the Dr appointment ran late and I forgot to call dispatch. Both drivers were great!!! Scheduling staff was great!!! Entire East Coast staff was great!!! Going to plan all of my dad's doctors via East Coast. ....and now that I know how they operate, will use for dad's social engagements too!! Don't believe the 2 star rating. Call East Coast for your transportation needs. Larry Propf
We had a wonderful experience today with East Coast. Our driver, Maria, was the reason. She was punctual, patient, kind, helpful, and a very safe driver. This was the first time I had been in a vehicle since a traumatic car accident 3 weeks ago and I was incredibly scared and anxious. Maria made the experience as positive as it could possibly be. I also liked the van itself. It seemed newer, was heated well , and as comfortable as a wheelchair van could be. Thank you, East Coast!!
We waited 1.25 hour to be picked up for an appointment down town. We arrived 1 1/2 late for the appointment. Not the first time we experienced this with this company. As we wait now 50 minutes in on getting picked up. If you have all day and no medical issues that need timely attention, use East Coast services.
Thank you for making my 37 year old sons experience truly happy. He had a stroke in March and has been in rehab since April. You have transported him to Drs appointments and hospital surgeries and done so with dignity. Your staff is friendly and kind not only to chris but also to his wife. God bless you all.
