Darien United Methodist Church: A Place of Worship, Community, and Service
Darien United Methodist Church is a vibrant and welcoming community of faith located in the heart of Darien, Connecticut. As the home of the United Methodist Church in this area, we are committed to serving God and our neighbors through worship, fellowship, education, and outreach.
Our church has a rich history that dates back to 1837 when a group of Methodists first gathered in Darien to worship together. Since then, our congregation has grown and evolved with the changing times while remaining true to our core values of love, compassion, justice, and service.
At Darien United Methodist Church (DUMC), we believe that everyone is welcome regardless of their background or beliefs. We strive to create an inclusive environment where people can come as they are and feel accepted for who they are. Whether you're new to town or have been here for years; whether you're young or old; whether you're single or married; whether you're searching for answers or seeking deeper meaning - there's a place for you at DUMC.
Our Sunday worship services are at the heart of our community life. We offer two services each week - one traditional service at 9:00 am and one contemporary service at 11:00 am - both featuring inspiring music, relevant messages from scripture, prayers for healing and hope, and opportunities for personal reflection. Our pastors are passionate about sharing God's love with others through their preaching and teaching.
In addition to worship services on Sundays, we offer a variety of programs throughout the week that cater to different age groups and interests. These include Bible studies, youth groups (for middle schoolers & high schoolers), children's ministries (for toddlers & elementary schoolers), women's circles (for fellowship & spiritual growth), men's breakfasts (for camaraderie & conversation), choir rehearsals (for music lovers), and more. We also have a vibrant outreach ministry that seeks to serve our local community and beyond through acts of kindness, generosity, and advocacy.
One of the things that sets DUMC apart from other churches is our commitment to social justice. We believe that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to work for a world where all people are treated with dignity and respect. This means standing up against racism, poverty, inequality, violence, and other forms of injustice. We partner with local organizations such as Person-to-Person (a food pantry & clothing center), Bridgeport Rescue Mission (a homeless shelter), and Norwalk ACTS (an education initiative) to make a positive impact in our community.
If you're looking for a church home where you can grow in your faith, connect with others who share your values, and make a difference in the world - we invite you to visit us at Darien United Methodist Church. Our doors are open wide!
