I can't believe my case manager Ms Lon Usher is still working there. She was the best case manager I ever had, she was more like my mom away from mom. Strict but loving, by the book, but compassionate. She is what makes Covenant House, because that's their mission statement....to help. I will never forget the help I received from them, Ms Lon Usher especially.

Covenant House is by far the best shelter I have found for Transition Age Youth 18-24. From their Outreach team, on-site youth support staff to their management and executive directors, they facilitate a hospitable and supportive environment that fosters individual growth. People are treated as who they are or are capable of becoming, with complete dignity and respect. My favorite feature of Covenant House is that it feels like staff are "family" in a sense that they really care about each individual and are very organized in their day to day operations. Upper management has a very strong on-site presence to ensure operational success and ultimately, resident success! Thank you, Covenant House - California, for being a leading shelter, lifting individuals up from the streets and onto the pathway to future success.
Although the cove may seem a good place, how the staff treat you is a different story. My name is Jasmine and I used to be there. I had a lot of mistakes and messed up and had chances but when it comes to chances they pick and choose. The males get more chances than the females. I recently got grabbed and the cove said a really nasty comment and laughed about it as an offense to me. There are the good staff then there are the fake ones. My friend got kicked out of there and for no reason. She is now suffering from domestic violence and they refuse to help.
Just wanna say that went by this tiny street and over a handful of youths were throwing around a football with no covid masks. Could tell the guy watching them couldn't care less. I used to work at the Way Inn on Hollywood Blvd, and I understand what it is like trying to come up with ideas or plans throughout the day to keep young people active. Don't know if it's like an rcl 10 or 12. But hang in there and try to work on it.
Love the idea but get better staff. The front desk ladies were so rude and unhelpful when I came in to literally donate. Because of this i tried to cancel my monthly automatic payments in February (it is now September) and they have never responded to my emails and keep charging even after I ve contacted them to stop. Not crying over spilt milk but it s the principle that really bothers me. I hope this place gets better as it is a needed service but bad vibes all around. I ve found I feel better about donating to more grateful charities.
Back in late 2000, I was directed to stay here from the guidance of an Army recruiter after being in a temporary homeless situation at the age of 18. This place provided me all the basic necessities including food, shelter, showers, clothes and many friendships as I awaited my enlistment documents and ship date to US Army Basic Training. 18 years later, I'm still serving on active duty. I've since earned a college degree and have a wife, two beautiful daughters, and countless other blessings. I am very grateful for the service this center and its employees provided to both myself and the thousands who have rotated through here. I also want to take this moment and praise Jesus that he used the recruiter to deliver me here in such a critical moment and has never left my side ever since! God is Great!
I used to live in this place a few years ago when I was homeless. This place was terrible. Staff was either rude or unavailable. I noticed that some of my stuff went missing, and I always suspected it was roommate and staff did not see any reason to conduct an investigation. I was locked up in a room with no AC and constantly woke up with mosquito bites. Plus this took place in the Summer, and it was 100 degrees or more. I left 3 weeks later. Best choice I possible could have made.
Love this place been here twice, staff is amazing helped me find housing! Just want to say thank you too all! Free food, free clothes, and a place to lay your head down what more can you ask for! Would highly reccomend!
