Code Platoon: Transforming Veterans and Military Spouses into Skilled Software Developers

Code Platoon is a non-profit organization that provides world-class training programs to dedicated veterans and military spouses, transforming them into skilled software developers. The company was founded in 2014 by Rod Levy, a former Marine Corps officer who saw the need for more opportunities for veterans in the tech industry.

The mission of Code Platoon is to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment by providing veterans with the skills they need to succeed in high-demand tech jobs. The company offers an intensive 14-week coding boot camp that covers everything from basic programming concepts to advanced web development techniques.

One of the unique aspects of Code Platoon's program is its focus on hands-on learning. Students work on real-world projects throughout the course, giving them practical experience that they can apply immediately after graduation. In addition, students receive personalized mentorship from experienced software developers who help guide them through their coursework and provide career advice.

Another key feature of Code Platoon's program is its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company actively seeks out applicants from underrepresented groups in tech, including women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. By creating a more diverse pipeline of talent in tech, Code Platoon aims to address some of the systemic issues facing the industry today.

Graduates of Code Platoon's program have gone on to successful careers at top companies like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Google. Many have also started their own businesses or pursued freelance work as independent contractors.

In addition to its core coding boot camp program, Code Platoon offers a range of other services designed to support veterans' transition into civilian life. These include resume workshops, interview preparation sessions, networking events with industry professionals, and ongoing career coaching even after graduation.

Overall, Code Platoon is an innovative organization that is making a real difference in the lives of veterans and military spouses across America. By providing access to high-quality training programs in one of today's most lucrative industries – technology – this company is helping bridge gaps between military service members' skills sets with those needed for success outside uniformed service while also addressing some systemic issues within our society at large such as diversity & inclusion challenges faced by many industries including technology sector where it operates primarily!
