I have a dream that I'll for at least once walk inside it....without the security shouting *hey you can't go in there! Only staff, students and recognised visitors are allowed* I'm Indian... I'll one day. 5 stars... Do i dare give it lesser than that

The California Institute of Technology, called Caltech, is a private, open university founded in Pasadena, California, one of the largest states in 1891, as a vocational college by a businessman and politician. The college was then known as Thrup University and then the Thrup Polytechnic Institute, before it was called the California Institute of Technology. The California Institute of Technology admits only a fifth of students who apply.

Cal Tech is a truely tree laden place with Jacaranda's and some decent (actually brilliant works of art). This prestigious university is under the careful direction of Dr. Thomas A. Rosenbaum, Physicist.

I attended a lecture give by Don Pettit titled "The Tyranny of the Rocket Equation." Making my way through the campus---as the orange light was fleeting--- for the eight o'clock lecture held in a building that looked like a "white wedding cake" as described by Michael Brundage (Cal Tech Graduate and Principal Data Scientist at Microsoft ).

To me the building looked like "Braut Kuchen mit Mozartkugeln" which is German for: Bride cake with chocolate covered marizipan balls (an Austrian specialty). Dr. Pettit had us wide eyed and forgetting about our stashed Iphones with his Power Point presentation on Zero-G Plasma Circles and the strange effect of rubbing a knitting needle with fur...can you guess what happened?

He stressed the varied ways one may view a "Space Photo" and showed us live examples of how linear thinking does not always apply. In space one may want to use "Off the Planet" and "far out of the box" thinking. For problems in space he says there are "no answers at the back of the book" and must be solved in real time.

Dr. Pettit pronounced cupola most uniquely as (cup-o-la) and kept interest for over an hour on his amazing adventures in space. Delightful! Funded by the Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS). Well organized and helpful staff on site sporting smiles and water. Truly enjoyed the lecture and campus.

Indy's notable mention: Einstein lived on this campus for three winters, initially in a bungalow located at 707 South Oakland Avenue.

Update in progress post Feynman 100. Auditorium packed in honor of a Nobel Prize winning physicist that did not sound like a machine and engaged many into a simple understanding of universe with common paradigms. Speakers of note, Dr. T.F. Rosenbaum, Leonard Susskind and Robert Dijkgraaf (Die Leuven so hell und wie ein roboter nicht).

I am probably too biased to write an objective review because I got my PhD here, but I believe that Caltech is the most prestigious school of any type in the country. It is not the biggest or best funded, but it unquestionably has the smartest students, judging by average SAT math scores, from which you can extrapolate IQ. Uninformed criticisms notwithstanding, Caltech also has an extremely dedicated faculty. Most Caltechies are a bit too liberal for my tastes, but overall this is the go-to school for the best of the best.

It's that time (college visits) so my oldest son and I took a tour of the campus. Love, love, love Cal Tech, but not to the point of object sexuality.

It's a small campus with only 2,000 undergraduates, but don't let that fool you. This is a quality institution with high academic standards.

Love the solar panels on the parking structure and other green touches on campus. There's even Zipcar!

The campus is quite clean and good for a stroll through, there are a few architectural highlights. Look like a student and no one will ask questions. Supposedly they have some turtles in one of the ponds there, but it sounds unlikely. The food is pretty bad compared to nearby restaurants and the library we saw is nothing to brag about. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EAT THE ORANGES HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

There is no better University in the world for Engineering and Sciences than at Cal Tech. The students who go here are exceptionally brilliant, they eventually end up working for NASA at JPL just minutes away from campus. Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking used to teach here as well as dozens of Nobel Prize winners.

I did the campus tour on July 11th, 2018. I absolutely loved this University. The campus is unbelievably beautiful, but it is small too. This University consists of around one thousand undergrad and one thousand five hundred grad students. All of their tests are take home tests which students usually love. This University is very reaserch heavy which brings tons of benefits to the students and finally there is a lot of collaboration between the students. I think this University is extremely nice and everyone should visit it if they can.

It's a college with 1000 undergraduates, as a correction to another comment already made.
Excellent school, pretty campus, and great students. However, it's only perfect for the students looking to work in theory/academia.

If you're seeking the highest concentration of sadness and despair in Los Angeles, look no further than Caltech! You may be drawn in by the claims of vibrant student life and the stock pictures of smiling students, but don't be deceived. Administration regularly conducts crackdowns on the Hovses, ensuring that any possible source of joy is snuffed out as quickly as possible. The only reason students persist in their labors is the promise of a strong career after graduation, but this is also a lie! It is the carrot dangled in front of them to persuade them to keep the Machine churning along! We must rise up against our oppressors! So I say to my fellow students: it is time to throw off our shackles and overthrow the system! Join me in glorious revolution!

Its one of the world best technical institute. But this review is more about its campus and its greenery surroundings which is so pleasant and cool even in hot sun. Building architecture with supporting natural greenery balance is awesome. Morning, evening is good time for walk, jog and a whole day to spent with family in this lock down. Have water bodies with beautiful lotus and places with tortoise and fountain add extra happiness. Campus restaurants are closed and sitting area still open. A lot parking space. Enjoy the campus by following lockdown rules.

This is one of the best technical institutions in the world!

Not only that, the campus is absolutely beautiful, so it'll be an artistic playground as well There are variety of buildings, plants and trees which have interesting forms. Quite fun to take a walk with a camera to find and capture how light and shadow, man-made buildings and the nature play together
