best setters in the city, great staff and community. Can pay for here and a conventional gym membership for less than I'd pay at other, more expensive rock gyms in the area *cough cough*
Really nice Rock climbing gym. It's a bit of a trek to get out here but once you do you're reared with some excellent climbing.
The routes are well designed and the"real" rock face is nice for smearing.
My only complaint is that as a boulderer I think I'd run out of routes after a session or t...
My favorite rock gym in the area. I love the music they play and the climbs are always fun challenges. Lots of variety.
Clean, organized, and they have something for everyone. I like how this place is organized and caters to a wide range of ages and skill levels. I visited for the first time and was greeted by two sweet doggies, filled out a waiver, rented a harness, and got a 5 min tutorial and was on my way to clim...
I'm a huge fan of MetroRock. Aside from their gorgeous rock walls and automatic belayers, they have an amazing ropes course. I'm not afraid of heights, but this one really put the fear of god in me! Luckily, I had the MetroRock team as well as my team mates helping me and encouraging me along the wa...
They are open from 9a-11p on weekdays (earlier morning on Tue/Thurs) and 9a-10p on Sat/Sun.
Hands down the best Rock gym in Boston. They have super friendly staff and great climbers/community. When you are considering buying shoes from their small store there is always a friendly staffer to help you decide what type of shoe to get and they will let you try them on a boulder or two do see h...
Great climbing gym. Nice and big. It's not as "pretty" as Central Rock in Watertown, but the shape of the walls gives a lot more opportunities for stemming, arretes, and other fun moves. Walls are a good height (45' or so I think), the staff was decent, and I liked the route setting.
I've been coming here for years. Great climbing options and classes :)
The facility is great, with a lot of options and they make sure that the routes are refreshed constantly! Worth checking it out just to try if you've never been!
What a great place to stay in shape.... especially in the winter! Somewhat easy to get to off of I-93 and just a great environment.
Beautiful big walls. Plenty of routes. Go in the morning if you want the whole place to yourself!
Super fun rock gym and they have lots of automatic harnesses for new climbers.
I love MetroRock so much. I have been climbing here for over four years now and miss it when I can't make it. Go check it out if you're even passingly interested in climbing.
I am an avid indoor rock climber and thought Metrorock was a great place for a few reasons, but not the best for others. The pros included awesome lead climbing with very fun and interesting setting paired with large features such as a large arch with a fun ceiling as well as a large overhung cave. ...
Been to Central rock, BKB, Metro rock, and Boston rock. Besides Central Rock, I've been to the other three at least 15 times. I chose Metro rock to be my primary gym because:
Price - Metro Rock is on the cheaper side and it offers a ton of options, ie. student discount, 10 pass pack, ladies night, ...
Great facility! Good variety of top rope, lead, bouldering. The certification process for top rope and belay isnt good. If you don't have climbing experience, you will have to attend a pre-determined intro to climbing class, which sucks if you decided to go on a whim.
The certification is them ha...
Of all the gyms I have been to this is definitely in my top three. As you would expect the staff is pretty laid back, but also very professional for a rock gym. The place is kept clean and the climbing community is second to none, the reason I have a membership here! The top roping is my favorite...
The staff is great and so is the set up; but gotta give the place one star until they clean the changing room, specifically the shower. Love coming in to work out and climb, but I'd almost rather stay sweaty and gross than use the showers. They need a good cleaning and a lil' tlc since the drain clo...
This place is seriously the best!
Incredible.
Fun place. Not too crowded. Sadly raised prices a bit, but still worth going to every so often.
Rock climbing! MetroRock is located in a dark alley near old warehouses outside of the superplex of Costco and it's other franchise minions. Once I entered in the building, I was in a world with like minded rock climbers that were here to stretch their mental and physical abilities. It's a game of s...
Great place for indoor rock climbing. Tall ceilings, bouldering, top rop, lead climbing, and auto-belay stations. Also a small weight room and a section to train your grip. Been going there for years and always leave with a smile on my face.
i love the unpretentious, slightly grungy, typically MIT-geekish ambiance. There's a large variety of routes up to half a pitch long, lead, topr rope, or self belay. The routes are more spread apart than at Central Rock Gym in Watertown, and there is almost a full grade of difference in the rating b...
My go-to rock gym in Boston. The best. This is the gym where rock climbers like to climb. ;)
Great place to climb with fun and interesting routes.
Much cheaper than Brooklyn Boulders.
Friendly staff, fun routesetting. (I do wish they'd change routes more frequently, but every gym has that problem.)
Place is clean and never too packed. Has alot of amenities aside from just the walls aswell and is a good temperature.
This place is great! They have lots of auto belays for new climbers and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
Whether it's bouldering, free climb, or top-rope, your climb will be a great workout -- the center also offers elliptical/rowing machines and recumbent bicycles for an extra cardio boost. Monday night is discounted for women. Bonus: Everyone is friendly here -- a great place to meet new friends.
Best rock climbing in the Boston area, except location. Color Coded rocks, enough climbs to keep you climbing for a month, all skill levels. Nice staff and everything you need to climb, definetly go (With a car)
Cool joint. Lots of routes. So grateful that the stones are color coordinated. That's too rare. Very fair pricing and great staff.
